A delegation from Kazakhstan participated in the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Safety Culture Workshop, held in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, from October 15 to 17, 2024.

Organized by ICAO in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Agency under Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Transport and Boeing, the event brought together aviation experts from across the region to enhance aviation safety culture.

The workshop featured strategic discussions for senior management on its first day, followed by practical sessions over the next two days.

Key topics covered included leadership styles, the importance of safety policies, safety data protection, and the practical implementation of safety reporting systems.

Participants emphasized fostering trust and creating positive safety environments within their aviation systems.

Kazakhstan’s representatives, including officials from the Aviation Administration of Kazakhstan, Kazaeronavigatsia, Air Astana, and AlphaSky, actively contributed to the discussions.

Air Astana delegates shared insights into building and maintaining a strong safety culture within their organization, aligning with international standards.

The event also included presentations from organizations such as the International Air Transport Association (IATA), EUROCONTROL and Airbus, alongside civil aviation authorities.

These exchanges aimed to improve regional flight safety through closer collaboration.

Kazakhstan’s involvement in the workshop underscores its commitment to advancing aviation safety across the region, supporting ICAO’s global safety initiatives and fostering a safety-first approach in the aviation sector.
