With the global MICE industry projected to grow from $870 billion to $1.5 trillion in the coming years, India is poised to capture a larger share of this market, currently holding less than 5%. The event, held at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, offers a platform for leaders, exhibitors, and policymakers to explore cutting-edge solutions, foster collaborations, and drive sustainable growth within the sector. By investing in technology, upskilling the workforce, and developing infrastructure, the country is positioning itself as a global powerhouse in the event management space, with a clear focus on future-ready growth.

India Expo Shop 2025: A Milestone in Innovation and Sustainability for the MICE Sector

The 5th edition of the India Expo Shop 2025, held at Yashobhoomi, Dwarka, marks a significant milestone in the country’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) sector. Organised by the Indian Exhibitions, Conferences, and Events Services Association (IESA), this prestigious event opened its doors on August 12, 2025, with a focus on innovation, sustainability, and future growth opportunities. The two-day event, which runs until August 13, 2025, has drawn more than 100 exhibitors, 300 decision-makers, and over 2,000 professionals from around the globe, all gathering to explore the latest trends in the event services industry.

The grand opening of the India Expo Shop 2025 began with an impressive arrival of both exhibitors and visitors, setting the stage for an engaging and insightful experience. One of the event’s most anticipated moments was the official launch of EventFull Bharat, a unique platform dedicated to highlighting emerging and smaller players within India’s events ecosystem. The inauguration ceremony featured key industry figures, including Ms. Uma Menon, General Secretary of IESA; Mr. Surinder Vashist, Treasurer of IESA; Mr. Sooraj Dhawan, President of the Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA); and Mr. Phil Chung, CEO/CMO of Kinexin IICC (YashoBhoomi) Operating Company, among others. Their collective efforts underscored the significance of the event, with a shared goal of advancing the Indian MICE sector and creating new opportunities for local and international businesses.

Mr. Sooraj Dhawan, President, Indian Exhibition Industry Association (IEIA) said, “The Indian exhibitions industry is on the brink of unprecedented growth, with revenues projected to double within three years. To seize this opportunity, our supply chain must scale with speed and innovation. India Expo Shop 2025 stands out as the definitive platform to connect with top suppliers, discover breakthrough solutions and shape the future of our industry.”

“The global MICE industry, valued at $870 billion, is projected to reach $1.5 trillion by 2030 and with India holding less than 5% of this market, our growth potential is immense. But this growth must be anchored in five essentials: adopting technology to work ten times faster without losing human creativity, building sustainable and innovative infrastructure, developing venues beyond metros, upskilling our workforce to global efficiency levels and embracing sustainability as a non-negotiable.”  said, Mr. Dhawan.

“Today’s global investors evaluate destinations not just for infrastructure, but for sustainability credentials, right down to the kilograms of CO₂ generated per event. India has immense potential to lead in this space and we see Yashobhoomi as a catalyst for that change. At Kinexin IICC, our commitment is to implement ESG policies that align with global KPIs, making India an even more compelling choice for international events.”  said,Mr. Phil Chung, CEO/CMO, Kinexin IICC (YashoBhoomi) Operating Company.

Joining virtually Mr. Jatinder Kapur, President, Indian Exhibitions, Conferences and Events Services Association (IESA) stated, “India Expo Shop 2025 demonstrates the scale and ambition of India’s MICE sector, projected to double in value, from USD 49.4 billion in 2024 to over USD 100 billion by 2030. With over 35,000 corporate events taking place each year, this year’s edition is especially significant as it brings the industry together at a time of unprecedented growth and opportunity. Initiatives like EventFull Bharat are essential to unlocking new opportunities, nurturing talent, and driving global competitiveness.”

Mr. Ashish Jain, Founder, Indian Pollution Control Association (IPCA) said, “Sustainability at exhibitions is not just about today, it’s about the world we pass on to the next generation. By integrating waste management, carbon reduction, and sustainable materials into our event practices, we can create a lasting environmental legacy. IPCA is committed to leading this change in collaboration with our industry partners.”

“Skilling should be close to everyone’s heart, not just a select few. While IESA and IEIA have been doing commendable work in this space, the future lies in setting industry-wide standards, formulating robust policies, ensuring occupational health and safety, adopting sustainable materials, and upholding strong work ethics. To truly transform, we must create Centers of Excellence across regions, starting small but building steadily. Now that our businesses are on a profitable path, we have both the responsibility and opportunity to give back, perhaps by channelling CSR funds to these initiatives. I personally pledge, and invite others to join me, in contributing to the creation of these centers, our collective legacy to the exhibition industry we serve, love, and want to see thrive.”  said, Ms. Sonia Prashar, Managing Director (MD) & Chairperson of the Board, NürnbergMesse India.

A Collaborative Step Towards Skill Development in the Event Industry

A major highlight of the opening day was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between IESA and the Media & Entertainment Skill Council (MESC). The MoU aims to address the growing need for skilling and upskilling within the Indian events industry. The collaboration is set to enhance the skills of professionals in this rapidly evolving sector, ensuring that the workforce is prepared to meet the challenges and demands of modern events. This signing ceremony was attended by influential leaders across the event, media, and entertainment sectors, further reinforcing the importance of strategic partnerships for industry growth.

Exploring Future Trends and Technologies in Event Management

The EventFull Bharat 1.0 programme kicked off with an engaging discussion on the vital role of upskilling in empowering a workforce driven by Generation Z. This session highlighted how the new generation’s tech-savvy and innovative mindset is shaping the future of the MICE industry. In addition to upskilling, the programme also featured a wide range of product showcases and event solutions, each emphasizing the future of the industry.

Among the most eye-catching sessions was the leadership talk on the strategic value of public relations (PR) in the events industry. As global trends shift toward more immersive and experiential event formats, PR has emerged as a critical component in enhancing event visibility and engagement. Participants were also introduced to cutting-edge immersive technologies and experiential concepts that are redefining how events are conceptualised and executed.

Moreover, the programme included a segment on how Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools are revolutionising the event planning and execution process. AI is increasingly being harnessed to automate repetitive tasks, optimise event logistics, and provide data-driven insights that improve the overall event experience. These innovations promise to elevate the efficiency, creativity, and success of events, providing attendees with a glimpse into the future of event management.
